GP/Clinician Appointments:
We continue to provide all initial GP/Clinician contact via telephone or video call, or via our online eConsult system (accessible via the practice website – www.oldmachar.co.uk under eConsult).
For booked appointments, a clinician will contact you by telephone (or video if you would prefer) as close to the time of your booked appointment as possible and will advise you as to the best course of action for your clinical query. Patients will be seen face-to-face if the clinician feels a physical examination or in person consultation is necessary.
Practice Nurse Appointments:
As part of a national redesign of services, many of the traditional GP Practice Nurse roles have been partially or fully taken over by the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). Procedures such as Blood Pressure Checks, Blood tests, Wound care, etc. are now largely done by CTAC nurses employed by Aberdeen HSCP. Many of these staff remain providing appointments within our practice for patients. However, it may mean attendance at a CTAC "hub" rather than your practice for such procedures. Further information can be found here.
Our Practice nurses continue to provide extensive services including venepuncture, electrocardiography, acute wound management, cervical screening and chronic illness reviews.
Midwife/Health Visitor/Psychologist/Links Worker/Podiatry etc. Appointments:
Services provided by health visitors, midwives, links workers, psychology, and podiatry are not controlled by the practice directly. Queries relating to provision of these services should be directed to the specific services.
Vaccination services
Vaccination services (including Childhood, Adult, Maternity, Travel, Flu, and Covid-19 vaccinations) are no longer provided by the practice. For information regarding the Grampian Vaccination service, including eligibility criteria and contact details can be found on their website https://www.grampianvax.com/
Repeat Prescriptions:
Can be ordered online by clicking HERE or via our dedicated prescription telephone lines (King Street Surgery: 01224-846601 & Jesmond Drive Surgery: 01224-846570).
Medical Certificates and Letter Requests:
We are encouraging emailing of medical certificates rather than collection from the surgery. Our suggestion is to use our eConsult system to request medical certificates and other letter requests as this will provide us with an up to date email address in order to forward the certificate to you.
Full public holiday information can be found here.
During our public holiday closures, urgent medical help can be obtained by contacting NHS24 on 111 for advice.
Our eConsult service will also be UNAVAILABLE during our public holiday closure times.
